To say that Deonna Hampton is tenacious is an understatement, but you get the idea. She was raised in a rural town in the midwest where you know most people by first and last name. A place where farm fields dot the landscape as far as you can see on a tank of gas. Deonna fondly remembers spending most of her childhood summers tent camping next to a local river with her family. Her dad would go to work during the work week and bring back supplies with a boat which was the only way in and out.

Deonna also worked as a waitress with her "granny" while still in school. Granny was known by the regulars as Aunt Blossie and ran a diner in town. She would take Deonna into work in the wee hours to start prepping for the day. From this type of raising and family values; the love of food was instilled in her at an early age. Deonna understands the importance of sustainability and can see the value in something that others may not think twice about, she has brought those same values to Hampton Foods.

If you've met Deonna you won't soon forget her, she is just that type of person. Simply put, Deonna is a God fearing woman, with a fierce love for her family and friends. As her husband, I know that she can be vulnerable but will not show it. She has been through quite a bit in her life, most recently a horrific car accident that pretty much broke her body (19 bone breaks), a month later she was discharged from the hospital to go home. Prior to this in 2014 she was diagnosed with breast cancer, after several surgeries and chemo she is still cancer free. A friend of Deonna's set up a page in her honor where Deonna was able to share her journey step by step. I will paste the link here and encourage everyone to read about the journey.
